Per the announcement from the Governor’s Office, Virginia will continue providing SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) and WIC (Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children) benefits as usual by drawing from an emergency discretionary fund. The Governor has pledged to maintain these funds through the duration of the federal shutdown.

This year, the Hunger Response Team of Sterling (HRTS), a 501(c)(3) organization, is stepping up once again with its annual Winter Coat Drive, and is calling on the community to help ensure every child can face winter with warmth and dignity.
