The Hunger Response Team of Sterling (HRTS) is proud to announce a transformative Giving Tuesday, thanks to the generosity of neighbors, businesses, and community partners across Sterling. Together, we surpassed our goal and sponsored 54 more students in our Backpack Buddies weekend meal program.
Each week, more than 300 students in Sterling head into the weekend with dependable, nutritious food provided by HRTS volunteers and school partners. This year’s Giving Tuesday emphasized just how deeply our community believes in meeting hunger with heart.
“Seeing parents pick up their weekend food bags and the joy on their face knowing their students are being provided for is rewarding,” one volunteer shared. “They work so hard for their families, and being able to take one thing off their plate is truly meaningful.”
Community Partnerships Made an Even Bigger Impact
HRTS extends special gratitude to Urbano Modern Italian, who offered a $10 gift certificate to anyone who donated $25 or more. Their partnership helped spark momentum throughout the day and demonstrated the power of local businesses rallying behind local children.
We are also grateful to our generous raffle partners—Texas Roadhouse and Burton’s Grill & Bar who provided gifts to help thank our supporters and celebrate the spirit of community giving.
What This Means for Sterling
Because of 2025 Giving Tuesday:
54 more students will receive consistent weekend meals for the rest of the school year.
Families facing financial uncertainty will have one more source of stability.
Our volunteers can continue packing more than 300 bags every week, ensuring no child is left without food over the weekend.
This is hope in action, and it belongs to our community.
Looking Ahead: How You Can Stay Involved
Although Giving Tuesday has ended, the need has not. HRTS remains committed to ensuring that every child in Sterling has enough to eat all weekend long. Community members can continue supporting students through year-end giving, volunteering, or corporate group packing events.
